A 24-year-old man was found dead Tuesday night in his Woodlawn-area home in an apparent homicide, police said.
Travis S. Taylor?s girlfriend found him dead at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday in his homein the 2800 block of Scarborough Circle, Baltimore County police said.
Police were waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
Taylor?s death brings the total number of homicides in the county to eight so far this year, according to department numbers.
Six of those cases have resulted in arrests, a police spokesman said. That puts the county on track with its clearance rate from 2005, when 31 of 40 homicides resulted in 39 arrests, Cpl. Michael Hill said. The county cleared nearly 90 percent of its 2004 homicides, he said.
Those rates are attributable to the officers who work the cases, the witnesses who come forward to talk about what they know and the simple fact that there aren?t as many homicides in Baltimore County as there are in other areas, said Ann Brobst, a Baltimore County assistant state?s attorney.
“Our numbers aren?t that high, so we have the luxury of spending all the time we need on every case,” Brobst said, adding, “If shots are fired in Baltimore County, somebody?s going to pick up the phone and call the police.”
