This morning, The Washington Examiner reported on the theft of two bikes from the garage at the home of Mayor Adrian Fenty.
Police chief Cathy Lanier has opened an internal investigation and the officer who was in the guard house is facing neglect charges.
Fenty spokeswoman Mafara Hobson issued a statement Monday clearing the officer:
“The incident, which took about 20 seconds, was captured on security cameras, and the officer on duty followed proper protocol,” she said in an e-mail. “The Fenty’s take full responsibility for the open garage.”
