Netflix is the latest media company to suspend its services in Russia amid the war in Ukraine.
The video streaming service also announced that it stopped production of four upcoming Russian series, including a crime thriller directed by Dasha Zhuk that was set to be Netflix’s second original series filmed in Russia, following Anna K.
“Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia,” a Netflix spokesperson told Mashable.

Netflix’s decision to suspend services is not expected to affect the streaming service’s bottom line, as its Russian audience is smaller than its market elsewhere, with less than 200,000 subscribers there compared to nearly 75 million users across the U.S. and Canada.
