The Columbia Bank on Monday assumed full operations ofa Commercial Banking Office in Frederick. The Commercial Banking Office, located at 30 W. Patrick St., is an affiliate of Fulton Financial Corp., which also purchased The Columbia Bank in February.
Before Columbia took over operating duties, Fulton affiliate Hagerstown Trust Co. had handled the Frederick bank?s operations.
Martin Atkinson, assistant vice president of Commercial Banking Office, will continue to manage the branch?s day-to-day operations. This includes overseeing the development and servicing of business loans and the marketing of business products such as cash management services in the greater Frederick region.
John A. Scaldara Jr., president and chief operating officer of The Columbia Bank, was upbeat about the change.
“Our move into Frederick County is also in keeping with our overall growth strategy to tap into new markets within our immediate geographic footprint,” Scaldara said.
Founded in 1988, The Columbia Bank operates 25 branches in the Baltimore and Washington region.
