Trump thanks Kanye West for his support

President Trump thanked Kanye West for his support after the rapper sent Twitter into a tizzy over his tweets about the president.

West defended Trump earlier Wednesday, telling his Twitter followers that he doesn’t agree with everything Trump does, but he still loves him.

“Thank you Kanye, very cool,” Trump responded.

West spent much of the afternoon explaining his support for Trump, whom he met with after the 2016 election at Trump Tower to discuss multicultural issues.

West was forced by his wife, reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian, to clarify some of his remarks about the president. Kardashian is a Democrat and supported Hillary Clinton in the presidential election. West said he’s neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

At one point, West referred to Trump as his “brother” and defended the “right to independent thought.”

West’s support of Trump, however, does not mean he agrees with the president’s politics, West and Kardashian explained.

“[M]y wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don’t agree with everything Trump does. I don’t agree 100% with anyone but myself,” West wrote.

Kardashian added: “He never said he agrees with his politics.”

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said she was unaware if Trump and West have spoken since their meeting in Trump Tower.

West has faced criticism for his support of Trump, but noted that he would never tell someone not to support Clinton.

“I don’t tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary,” he said. “I love Hillary too.”

The rapper also showed off his signed “Make America Great Again” hat.

Trump later tweeted in response to the photo of West’s signed MAGA” hat, exclaiming, “MAGA!”
