Ye named suspect in LA battery investigation

Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, is being investigated by police on suspicion that he roughed up a man in Los Angeles.

Mike Lopez, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, told the Washington Examiner that Ye had been named as a suspect in a battery report.


“This morning, at 3 a.m., officers responded to Santa Fe Avenue and Bay Street. A battery report was completed with Kanye West as a named suspect. It is unknown how the victim was battered. [The] victim called police. Kanye was not at [the] scene,” Lopez said.

Witnesses told TMZ that Ye punched the man, identified as an autograph seeker, in the head and neck. The news outlet also published an image and a video showing a man lying on the street and what appears to be Ye yelling at two women.

An investigation is ongoing by the LAPD Newton Division. No arrests had been made at the time of publishing.
