‘Trump Rat’ debuts in Baltimore

There’s a new rodent in town.

With President Trump expected to visit a Republican retreat at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore on Thursday, protesters in the city inflated a giant balloon depicting Trump as a rat.

Wearing a suit and red tie, and holding a phone in one claw, the “Trump Rat” prop calls attention the president’s tweet that called Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore-based district a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

A sticker attached to the base of the balloon says, “Fight Fascism, Stop Trump.”

A man named Claude Taylor, who has a large Twitter following and identifies as a “liberal provocateur,” positioned the inflatable rat off President’s Street, putting up a realistic-looking sign that said “President Barack Obama Ave.”

“The rat’s been in Newport Beach, California, on a boat, it’s been on the Potomac on a boat,” the Mad Dog PAC founder told the Baltimore Sun. “It’s been most notably docked off Mar-a-Lago.”

The Trump Rat is reminiscent of other balloons mocking Trump, including the “Baby Trump” blimp that has followed the president all the way from London to Washington, D.C.
