Actor Chuck Norris is now an “honorary Texan.”
Norris, who was born in Oklahoma, is best known for his roles in martial arts movies and the TV series “Walker: Texas Ranger.” He visited the Texas state Senate with his wife Gena on Tuesday where he received the new title.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick gave him with a wooden gavel and commented on the 77-year-old’s acting career and philanthropic endeavors.

Chuck Norris and wife Gena also sang happy birthday to Patrick, in a video posted to Twitter.
Norris is a Republican who during the 2016 presidential campaign, threw his support behind former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. He also campaigned with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in 2014.
While Norris hasn’t been acting much in recent years, his action-star legacy has been given new life in the form of an Internet meme in which there is no challenge of foe he cannot accomplish, no matter how impossible. Twitter users had some fun reacting to Norris’ new title, with one saying, “Shouldn’t @chucknorris be making Texas an honorary Chuck Norris?”
