Conservative lawmakers including Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and Chip Roy (TX) stood up for President Joe Biden’s comments about fixing the country’s broken tax system.
His comments elicited cheers from Democrats and several Republicans. Gaetz, Roy, and Boebert are considered to be part of the right flank of the Republican conference.

“And I think a lot of you at home agree with me that our present tax system is simply unfair,” he said, prompting the round of applause.
It’s unclear if the Republicans agreed with Biden’s solution to reforming the tax system.

“The idea that in 2020, 55 of the biggest companies in America made $40 billion in profits and paid zero in federal income taxes? That’s simply not fair. But now, because of the law I signed, billion-dollar companies have to pay a minimum of 15%,” Biden continued.
