Judge Judy will return to television with granddaughter

Judy Sheindlin announced Thursday that she will come back to television alongside her granddaughter on Nov. 1.

The program will be called Judy Justice and will be available on Amazon’s IMDb TV streaming service. Sarah Rose, a law clerk and Sheindlin’s granddaughter, will be a legal analyst.

“She’s smart, sassy, and opinionated,” Sheindlin said. “Who knows where she gets those traits?”

SMALL SHOWING FOR BLOOMBERG RALLY WITH JUDGE JUDY DESPITE CAMPAIGN’S BIG SPENDING

Judge Judy was the most popular show produced by CBS Media ventures for over a decade, and Sheindlin’s deal with CBS concluded after a 25-year-long run. CBS will continue to keep Judge Judy reruns on the air.

CBS bought the rights to the show’s old episodes from Sheindlin, allowing CBS to continue selling the rights to air the episodes without continuing to pay Sheindlin to star in new ones.

“We had a nice marriage,” Sheindlin told the Wall Street Journal. “It’s going to be a Bill and Melinda Gates divorce.”

Two longtime producers on Judge Judy, Randy Douthit and Amy Freisleben, will be joining Sheindlin on the show.

Judy Justice is expected to drive hordes of viewers to the streaming service, cashing in on the original show’s clout.
