Majority whip: Trump will approve Paul Ryan’s agenda

Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise claimed Sunday that Donald Trump has said he would sign all of the legislation House Speaker Paul Ryan hopes to pass as part of the GOP’s “A Better Way” agenda, even as Trump said he and Ryan would have to “compromise.”

“Frankly, all the things we talked about, Donald Trump said he would be signing those bills,” the House majority whip told Fox News. “Bills to get the budget balanced. Bills to get the economy moving again and lower tax rates.”

Scalise said he and other Republican lawmakers have “talked about a lot of specifics” with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee and “there weren’t areas where he seemed to be apart from us.”

He added, “We have a strong agenda. We’re going to move through the rest of this year and show the country not what we’re against but what we’re for that will get jobs created again, get the economy moving again.”

Scalise’s comments come hours after Trump suggested he and Ryan will “compromise” on an agenda if he makes it to the White House.

“I think it’s going to be a compromise, honestly. I can see a compromise,” Trump told CBS.
