Peter Thiel considering run for governor of California: Report

Billionaire PayPal found Peter Thiel is considering a run in 2018 for governor of California, according to a report.

Thiel, who is one of Silicon Valley’s rare Trump backers, has been mulling over a bid with a small group of advisors, according to Politico, which quotes three unnamed sources “familiar with his thinking.”

But the piece quotes other sources as noting Thiel is a “deeply private figure” who may be unlikely to run.

California is a heavily Democratic state. But it nevertheless had a Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as recently as five years ago.
