Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney drew the ire of President Trump this week when he coughed during a presidential interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that aired Sunday.
During an intense back-and-forth with Stephanopoulos regarding his financial statements, Trump was asserting that his finances were “fantastic” when someone off-camera interrupted him with a cough. Stephanopoulos indicated that the cougher was, in fact, Trump’s chief of staff, Mulvaney.
Trump asked for the chance to redo his answer, though ABC left the outtake in the final cut.
A visibly annoyed Trump tried his best to maintain his composure and continue the interview, but demanded Mulvaney leave the room if he was going to cough.
“If you’re going to cough, please leave the room. You just can’t — you just can’t cough. Boy, oh boy,” Trump said.
