Harris’s stepdaughter signs on with same modeling agency as inaugural poet

Vice President Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter joined the world of modeling, agency IMG Models announced.

Ella Emhoff, 21, signed on with IMG Models days after poet Amanda Gorman, who recited a poem at President Biden’s inauguration.

“It’s not really about shape, size, or gender anymore,” Ivan Bart, IMG’s president, told the New York Times. “Ella communicates this moment in time. There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.” Emhoff first drew Bart’s attention at a fundraiser during the presidential primaries, he said.

“I noticed her as soon as she walked in the door,” he said.

The two began discussing the possibility that she join the agency in 2020. Watching the inauguration, Bart said he thought, “Wow, she’s communicating fashion.”

IMG is a prestigious modeling firm, representing the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Stephanie Seymour.

“I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline,” Emhoff said. “As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyperfocused on you and the body.”
