Arlington police yesterday arrested a 32-year old Arlington man suspected of robbing a bank in Crystal City.
Police believe Nathan Jemere robbed a Bank of America branch on the 4200 block of S. Eads Street just after noon Thursday. Jemere allegedly handed the teller a note instructing her to place money in a bag.
After she complied, Jemere set off on foot. He was apprehended during a routine patrol in an alley near the bank.
The robbery was the second Thursday, and the third one in Arlington this week. On Thursday morning in the United Bank branch on the 2300 block of 9th Street South, a man with a handgun jumped over the counter, took an undisclosed amount of money, then fled on foot. On Wednesday, two suspects robbed an armored car at Pentagon City Mall.
No one has been apprehended by police in connection with these two robberies.
“We’re pretty sure [the Bank of America] robbery is a one-time thing,” police spokesman John Lisle said. “We don’t have any other cases [with Jemere], as far as I know. It’s not connected to the other ones at all.”
Arlington police ask anyone with information about the other two robberies to call their tip line at 703-228-4242.
