New York Daily News columnist Linda Stasi apologized for writing a perceived racial slur about Kimberly Guilfoyle but still defended her column lashing out at the Fox News host.
Stasi published a column on Tuesday calling on Fox News to fire Kimberly Guilfoyle, co-host of “The Five,” over her rumored romantic relationship with Donald Trump Jr. In the piece, she claimed that Guilfoyle is better off “picking grapes” than men, which some saw as a racial slur aimed at Guilfoyle’s Puerto Rican heritage.
The remark was lambasted by a number of Trump supporters on Twitter after it was first picked up by Breitbart and caught the attention of the eldest Trump son, who defended his rumored girlfriend.
“How did this get past her editors at the @NYDailyNews? Or do they condone this kind of talk? I guess hypocrisy, sexism & racist rhetoric are alive & well there,” Trump Jr. tweeted Wednesday.

Stasi responded to the criticisms by acknowledging that she was unaware of Guilfoyle’s heritage and offered to change the reference but questioned the stereotype since Guilfoyle is only half Puerto Rican.
“Absolutely no idea that Kimberly Guilfoyle is half Puerto Rican…and my column was in no way meant as a slur,” she tweeted Wednesday. “Nonetheless I will change that reference online. I’m just surprised anyone would have assumed such a stereotype b/c someone is half-Latina. So sorry for misunderstanding”
