A 72-year-old Missouri man, David Jungerman, painted a message on the side of an 18-wheeler trailer and placed it on his farm land, within view of a high-traffic highway:
Democrats – Party of the Parasites
Someone was not having it, and I’m guessing it wasn’t one of those violent Tea Partiers:
Then flames erupted in an empty farm house that Jungerman owns.
“They don’t like free speech,” said Jungerman. He put out a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
The local Democratic Party spokesperson distanced them from the acts of arson while also adding rather ominously, “around here some people might wonder at what point do you cross the line?” So, free speech is all well and good until a Democrat doesn’t like your rather benign road sign and sets fire to it because you kind of had it coming? I don’t believe that’s the standard for free speech of Democrats.
Read the whole story for more on Jungerman, who says he voted for Claire McCaskill for Senate in 2006 and finds local Democrats plenty conservative. He’s dismayed, however, by national Democrats and their base who are “sucking this country dry.” Jungerman sounds like quite a character, happily stirring up trouble with his trailer (when he’s not working 80 hours a week), and none too shy about speaking his mind:
As to critics and arsonists who’d like his sign taken down? He says a good corn crop is about to obscure some of it, and says the vandals actually burned themselves:
