ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) — A mayor whose home was raided by the Michigan State Police says he’s cooperating in what authorities call a public corruption investigation.

Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert said Wednesday in a statement that a search warrant was executed Monday and he let “the officers do their job.” Several items were taken.

Police say the case involves city officials and stretches back several years.

Romulus is about 17 miles southwest of Detroit and is home of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. It drew attention in 2011 after an ex-police chief and five detectives were arrested on accusations they used drug forfeiture money to pay for prostitutes, alcohol and marijuana.

Lambert has been mayor since 2001 and wasn’t linked to that case. State police say the latest investigation is unconnected to the 2011 scandal.
