Bill Maher: The Clintons ‘gotta go away’

Comedian and liberal commentator Bill Maher said that Bill and Hillary Clinton need to “go away.”

Speaking on the Friday episode of his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher, the host said he thinks that speculation of a Hillary Clinton presidential run is damaging the ability of Democrats to successfully beat President Trump in 2020.

“It seems like every few months, Hillary Clinton bubbles up again, and people are, like, ‘Oh, she’s thinking about running,’ or she says something crazy,” Maher said.

“The Clintons — they’ve gotta go away. I’m saying this now a year out … They can’t be at the convention,” he continued. “Maybe waving or something, but I’m serious. She is one of the biggest vote-getters.”

Maher also repeated comments from conservative former Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan that Hillary Clinton is “a Donald Trump asset.”

Amash made the statement after Hillary Clinton said presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard is “a favorite of the Russians” and implied that the congresswoman is a “Russian asset” being groomed to spoil the 2020 election with a third-party run.

“And Bill is damaged goods,” Maher said of the former president.

MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch agreed with Maher’s assessment, adding, “It’s too soon. Step away from the convention at this point.”
