Defense Secretary Ash Carter, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford, and Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken are set to brief the U.S. Senate Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the status of the campaign to defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
A Pentagon official says the briefing will be in closed session, and will be for all members of the Senate.
The briefing comes as the Islamic State is suspected of being behind the Tuesday attack at the Istanbul airport that killed 41 people and wounded more than 200.
