3rd quarter
Arenas opens with an alley oop to Blatche in transition, but then gives everyone what they really want: a jumper, a drive-and-dish to Stevenson for a three, and then a drive to the hoop for a layup of his own. The Verizon Center din, for a moment, grows.
Rodrigue Beaubois is a busy bee. The refs like his aggressiveness.
Now that Mike Miller is in the game, much more attention is being paid to whether his hair is prettier than Nowitzki’s. Consensus is it’s the German.
Now Arenas is rolling, six points in a row, the last bucket the best of the trio: Zero ducks down low, takes long wrap-around dribble around one defender, then splits Gooden and Kidd in the lane for the finish and the foul. He’s 5 for 5 in the first 8 minutes of the quarter.
Fabricio Oberto sends Gooden to the floor, that’s the physical play the Wiz expect from him.
Beaubois strips Arenas, dunks it home. 11 points in the quarter for the rookie.
6 for 6, but Arenas gets called for an offensive foul on the last play of the quarter. Looked more like a flop by Jose Barea.
