Giuliani: Trump is ‘very, very embarrassed’

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Donald Trump, who he is supporting for president, is “very, very embarrassed” by the recently resurfaced video showing the Republican make vulgar remarks about women.

On ABC’s “This Week,” Giuliani said Trump has reflected on the 2005 video, which was published Friday, and is “contrite” about it.

“My reaction is the same as everyone else,” he said Sunday. “It’s horrible, it’s reprehensible.”

He said that Trump is “ashamed of himself and he’s embarrassed” but that running for president has “changed” him for the better, which echoes what Trump said in his video apology early Saturday.

Giuliani also said that he can’t be sure other similar controversies won’t surface.

He said that “the stakes have gotten a lot higher” ahead of Sunday night’s presidential debate against Democrat Hillary Clinton, as a result of the video.

After the video was published, originally by the Washington Post, Trump apologized and called his remarks “foolish.”

Dozens of Republican lawmakers and leaders have called for Trump to step down as the nominee but he has said he will remain in the race.
