Guns, ammunition recovered from accused Metro bomb plotter’s house

Federal prosecutors say Farooque Ahmed, the 34-year-old Ashburn man accused of plotting to bomb Metrorail stations, told government agents posing as terrorists that he had purchased “various firearms” and was training for jihad.

Court documents listing items seized from Ahmed’s home, office and bank accounts detail exactly what guns and ammunition Ahmed had. The search warrant returns, made public Tuesday, show that Ahmed possessed:

  • Container with 426 rounds of .22-caliber bullets and 39 rounds of .40-caliber bullets
  • Remington rifle
  • Stoeger STF 3000 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun
  • Smith and Wesson .40-caliber pistol
  • Bag with 11 rounds of .22-caliber bullets and 22 rounds of .40-caliber bullets
  • Gun cleaning supplies

Ahmed entered a not guilty plea in federal court in Alexandria Tuesday.
