Sen. Elizabeth Warren is hitting back against Donald Trump after the presumptive Republican nominee tried to shut down the progressive hero with a series of insults.
Warren, who has launched multiple attacks at Trump during the campaign season, responded to the latest bombardment from Trump — calling her “Goofy Elizabeth Warren” and questioning her Native American heritage — by saying that she won’t back down.
Warren called Trump’s new nickname “weak” and said voters know better than to fall for Trump’s birtherism and attacks on her heritage.
Trump “is a bully who has a single play in his playbook — offensive lies thrown at anyone who calls him out,” she said.
Warren said Trump “spews insults and lies because he can’t have an honest conversation about his dangerous vision for America.”
Warren added that Trump lied his way through the primary season and wasn’t held accountable by GOP rivals for his statements. Warren said she and other Democrats will hold him accountable during the general election season.
The junior senator from Massachusetts said she would not succumb to Trump’s scare tactics and would work to deny him the White House.
“We won’t shut up. We won’t back down,” she wrote “This election is too important and he won’t step foot in the White House.”
Whatever @realDonaldTrump says, we won’t shut up. We won’t back down. This election is too important, & he won’t step foot in White House.

Later in the evening, Trump called Warren “weak and ineffective” and said he was driving her nuts. He said her “Native American name” could be “All talk, no action.”
Warren, however, got the last word.
“No, (Donald Trump) — your racism, sexism and xenophobia doesn’t drive me nuts,” she said. “It makes me sick. And I’m not alone.”
