LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — The Lafayette City-Parish Council has voted 8-1 to extend its trash pickup contract with Allied Waste and its parent company, BFI Waste Services LLC.
The council has an option to renew for another five years after the extension expires.
The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/Q6HfZd ) reports that there was little discussion before Tuesday’s vote.
The dissenter, Vice Chairman William Theriot, said later that he voted against the agreement because thought the government should have solicited other bids to get a better deal.
