The westbound lanes of Route 32 in the Columbia-Clarksville area will be closed for six to eight hours after a multiple vehicle collision this afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred on a bridge near Route 29, and there will have to be a structural analysis to determine if the bridge is safe for traffic, said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.
A Ford Ranger truck towing construction equipment struck another vehicle, which caused a chain reaction, police said. A dump truck hit a concrete barrier on a bridge and burse into flames, police said.
Three people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
The eastbound lanes of Route 32 are open to traffic.
