Jazz pianist/composer David Benoit will perform at Rams Head Tavern on Thursday for his annual holiday tour, “A Charlie Brown Christmas with the David Benoit Quartet.”
Aside from the Charlie Brown holiday favorites, Benoit will also play music from his latest release, “Jazz for Peanuts: A Retrospective of the Charlie Brown Television Themes.” The album is a celebration of composer Vince Guaraldi’s impact on generations of jazz musicians with collaboration from Wynton Marsalis, Kenny G and Dave Brubeck.
A renowned jazz musician, Benoit has been composing music for Peanuts specials on CBS for more than ten years, and in 2000 released a memorial album for Peanuts creator Charles Schulz titled “Here’s To You, Charlie Brown: 50 Great Years.”
A five-time Grammy nominee for his seminal contributions of contemporary jazz, Benoit has also arranged, conducted and performed music for many popular pop and jazz artists over the years, including Kenny Loggins, Faith Hill, Cece Winans and more. In addition to “Jazz for Peanuts,” Benoit also recently released his studio album “Heroes.”
Rams Head Tavern is located at 33 West St. in Annapolis. Show times are 6 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $35. For more information, visit www.benoit.com.
