Group opposing LNG plant calls meeting

The legal team representing a coalition of Dundalk residents opposing a proposed liquefied natural gas plant at the Sparrows Point shipyard will host a discussion on the “toxic environment” of the former Bethlehem Steel plant this evening, a group spokeswoman said.

The meeting was initiated based on the U.S. Justice Department?s recent order that the existing Mittal steel plant on the peninsula must be sold.

“Considering the fact that numerous waste management and energy processes are presently in permitting process, we need to be proactive with potential ownership,” LNG Opposition Team coordinator Sharon Beazley said in a statement. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the North Point Edgemere Volunteer Fire Hall
