CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Public housing tenants have filed a lawsuit against the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority, alleging that the group failed to provide adequate electric utility allowances.
The Legal Aid Justice Center alleges in the class-action lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court on behalf of tenants, ex-tenants and a residents association that the authority’s failure to comply with federal law has resulted in thousands of dollars in overcharges to low-income residents.
