D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is set to announce his second weather-related task force in less than a week Tuesday as he rolls out plans for a new panel to explore ways to combat flooding in Bloomingdale and LeDroit Park.
Gray is set to visit Shae Kims Memorial Park to name a task force that his office says will “help create mitigation strategies to prevent future flooding.”
Heavy rains in July prompted three episodes of significant flooding in the pair of Ward 5 neighborhoods, frustrating business owners and residents as water and sewage seeped into buildings.
Last week, Gray announced the formation of a task force that will look at burying the District’s power lines, a project that could cost up to $6 billion. That panel is due to stage its first meeting on Thursday.
