Trial for Glen Arm man slated to begin June 27

The trial of a Glen Arm man accused of lying under oath and forging documents in Howard County Circuit Court is scheduled for June 27.

Paris G. George, 52, of Baltimore County, appeared in Howard County Circuit Court on Tuesday for a motions hearing, but did not speak other than to state his name for the record.

George stands accused of trying to deceive the court during a May trial by presenting fake documents that led to his acquittal on charges that he committed felony theft and failed to install a wheelchair lift for a Clarksville couple who paid him $6,300 to do the work.

State?s Attorney Timothy McCrone contends that George has a record of preying on people with disabilities.

After Tuesday?s hearing, George?s attorney, Joseph Murtha, of Ellicott City, said his client plans to plea not guilty to the charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. He declined further comment on George?s defense.
