Fox News poll: Over half of voters want Trump impeached and removed from office

Just more than half of Americans think President Trump should be impeached and removed from office.

Fox News polled 1,003 registered voters across the United States by phone from Oct. 6-8 and released the results on Wednesday. It is the first Fox News poll conducted since allegations surfaced that Trump oversaw a quid pro quo deal with Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden in return for U.S. military aid.

At 51%, just more than half of the respondents said that Trump should be impeached and removed from office, with 43% saying that Trump should stay and 6% unsure.

Respondents were also asked how troubling the allegations and evidence against Trump is, with 51% saying the situation is very or extremely troubling and 44% saying the situation is somewhat or not at all troubling. Five percent of respondents were unsure.

Trump has alleged that Biden withheld $1 billion in loan guarantees from Ukraine while vice president in order to save his son, Hunter, from being investigated for corrupt dealings while sitting on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.

The poll asked respondents how troubling they saw Biden’s situation and 36% said very or extremely troubling, 58% said somewhat or not at all, and 6% said they did not know.

UPDATE:

Trump’s campaign responded to the Fox News poll on Thursday, suggesting the support for impeachment is inflated.

“It’s not hard to get 51% in favor of impeachment when nearly half of those polled were Democrats. The media should put this poll where it belongs — in the garbage,” a Trump campaign official told the Washington Examiner.
