WATCH: Man and dogs survive lightning strike after good Samaritans intervene

A Texas man is expected to fully recover after he was struck by lightning while walking his three dogs.

Shocking video released from the parking lot of a veterinary hospital in Spring, Texas, shows the moment Alex Coreas was hit by the bolt last week and the aftermath of the strike, during which good Samaritans sprang into action to resuscitate the unconscious man.

After seeing Coreas get struck, clinic worker Christy Mittler immediately ran to him and saw that he had charred clothing and wasn’t breathing. She and a colleague immediately began performing CPR.

“His shoes and his socks got blown off his feet,” Mittler told ABC 13. “We rolled him over and we were sweeping out his stuff. We were knocking him on his back, telling him, ‘It’s okay. You got hit by lightning.’”

The bolt of electricity left a large hole in the concrete. His dogs scattered, running into the woods, but are all safe after being located by deputies who responded to the scene.

A GoFundMe account set up by Coreas’ family to help with his recovery had already raised more than $23,000 as of Monday morning.
