District taxpayers footed the bill for the 300 abortions during the two years the city was allowed by Congress to pay for them out of city funds, the Associated Press is reporting.
President Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress lifted the ban on using local D.C. dollars to fund abortions in 2009. Since then, the city shelled out $185,000 on abortions, according to records obtained by AP.
The ban is back in place, though, with Republicans back in charge of the House.
