A common red-carpet question is now being directed at Olympic athletes: Who are you wearing?
And some politicians are not happy with the answer.
To represent America at the opening ceremonies in London, U.S. Olympians will wear berets, blazers and pants that were made in China.
“I am so upset. I think the Olympic committee should be ashamed of themselves. I think they should be embarrassed. I think they should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference.
Also weighing in on their disgust was House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner.
Ralph Lauren will provide Olympians with clothes to be worn around the Olympic Village and for the closing ceremonies, and Nike has made many of the uniforms and outfits for the medal stand.
But just like the red carpet, it’s all about making a first impression.
