Alphabet chief joins two dozen tech executives in Biden endorsement

The chairman of Google’s parent company is all-in on 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Alphabet Executive Chairman John Hennessy and Google executive Vinton Cerf joined two dozen winners of the Nobel Prize of computing to sign a letter of endorsement backing Biden and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris listen to experts before setting public policy, essential when science and technology may help with many problems facing our nation today,” the letter reads.

Google engineer David Patterson, who signed on to the letter, told the New York Times that he was against the Trump administration’s focus on limiting the influx of high-skilled foreign labor in the tech sector.

“The most brilliant people in the world want to come here and be grad students, but now, they are being discouraged from coming here, and many are going elsewhere,” Patterson said.

Election Day is in 46 days.
