Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Tuesday there is no evidence Hillary Clinton is the Methodist Christian she claims to be.
“We don’t know anything about Hillary in terms of religion,” Trump told a group of Christian leaders at a closed meeting in New York City on Tuesday. “Now, she’s been in the public eye for years and years, and yet there’s no — there’s nothing out there. There’s like nothing out there.”
Trump, who identifies as a Presbyterian, predicted if Clinton wins the Oval Office in November, her religious status would be even more vague than President Obama’s classification. Obama identifies as a Christian.
“It’s going to be an extension of Obama but it’s going to be worse, because with Obama you had your guard up; with Hillary you don’t, and it’s going to be worse,” Trump added.
