Va. museum enters cultural-exchange agreement with China

Published

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is entering a cultural-exchange agreement with China that will bring about 200 objects from Beijing to Richmond in 2014.

Gov. Bob  McDonnell signed the exchange agreement Saturday. In summer 2014, about 200 items from Beijing’s Palace Museum — a showcase called “Treasures from the Forbidden City” — will be displaced at the VMFA. Exhibits from the VMFA will also be shown in China, making the museum the first in the United States to have an exhibit from its collections on display at the Palace Museum.
