Perhaps Carson Daly didn’t get the memo that gay people can be just as strong and heroic as straights.
During his radio show on Wednesday, Carson made some off-color comments when the topic came up of the JetBlue pilot who had a midair meltdown and had to be restrained earlier in the week.
“With my luck, it would be like this is the flight going to Pride in San Francisco,” “The Voice” host said. “Uh, we’re headed down to Vegas for the floral convention.”
And then in an effeminate voice he said, “Can we get a little help? ‘Ohhhh nooo.’ ”
There has been a lot of angry backlash for the anti-gay comments. One woman in particular didn’t find it one bit amusing.
Alice Hoagland is the mother of Mark Bingham, who was one of the heroes on Flight 93 who prevented terrorists from crashing the plane into the White House.
“Yes, my gay son was known in our family for bringing me flowers on my birthday and Mother’s Day,” Alice told TMZ. “He also was known for careening down the rugby pitch, and, on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, for charging unarmed down the aisle of a doomed Boeing 757 to face knife-wielding Islamist thugs in a hijacked cockpit.
“The world has its share of strong, heroic gay men,” she said. “Gay men in sports uniforms and military uniforms have been winning America’s games and fighting America’s battles for a long time: quietly, humbly and in the face of vicious bigotry.”
And that, Carson, was the sound of millions of brave Americans, gay and straight, applauding Alice and turning off your radio show for good.
Judge ends Lindsay’s probation, says ‘Stop Nightclubbing’
Lindsay Lohan is finally free! Well, sort of.
Judge Stephanie Sautner took Lindsay off probation from her 2007 Beverly Hills DUI case, according to Us Weekly. “She has completed [her sentencing] short of a year. She has done everything that this court has asked of her,” the judge said.
Lindsay was apparently thrilled, mouthing, “Oh my god!” after hearing the news.
“You need to live your life in a more mature way,” the judge warned. “Stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.”
Lindsay will still remain on probation until May 2014 for her necklace theft, however.
