Sen. Kamala Harris and other 2020 Democratic candidates laughed at tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang after he promised he would give 10 Americans $1,000 a month for a year.
After Yang revealed his “Freedom Dividend” to 10 Americans was his debate surprise, Harris laughed at him in a hot-mic situation.

“It’s original, I’ll give you that,” South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg said before starting his opening statement.
Yang, 44, has made the “Freedom Dividend” a staple of his 2020 campaign. The policy would give every American adult $1,000 a month for the rest of their lives. Yang says he would pay for the measure by taxing tech companies.
