Obama Adminstration’s Latest Anti-Terror Message: The ABC’s of ISIS

At least since President Obama referred to the Islamic State (ISIS/Daesh) as a “JV” team, his administration has been criticized for approaching the rapidly expanding terror organization with a lack of seriousness. Especially in light of last week’s San Bernardino slaughter, the State Department’s latest Twitter campaign, “The ABC’s of Daesh” will do little to convince doubters that the president’s approach has changed.


The campaign appears on the State Department’s “Think Again, Turn Away” Twitter account, an account aimed at those who might be inclined to join terror organizations. So far, the “ABC’s” campaign has three entries:












Although the Think Again/Turn Away Twitter account shows almost 25,000 followers, the three tweets above, several days old, have retweets and favorites only in the single digits, suggesting a rather limited audience. However, with a campaign centered on such a juvenile concept such as “ABC’s”, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly whom the State Department is hoping to reach with these latest anti-terror messages.
