Students to be tested on Constitution, Bill of Rights at simulated hearings

Fifth-graders from 25 Howard County schools will put their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to the test at the second annual We the People simulated congressional hearings beginning this month.

The students will respond to such topics as how the Constitution was written and how the it protects citizens? rights.

Public officials, lawyers, community leaders and education administrators will judge the students.

The events will take place from May 15 to June 8 at the 25 participating schools.

The We the People program is administered by the Center for Civic Education and funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
