The Bidens get a book deal of their own

Former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden are following in their former boss’s footsteps by securing their own book deal.

Flatiron Books announced Tuesday that Biden will write two non-fiction books for its Macmillan division, while Jill Biden will produce one of her own.

According to a press release, one of the former vice president’s books will “explore one momentous year in which he tackles some of the most difficult challenges in the White House while enduring the death of his son Beau.” Beau Biden died in 2015 from brain cancer.

“It tells the story of not just a politician, but of a father, grandfather, friend and husband,” the press release added.

“We’re so deeply honored to be the publisher of these books by Vice President and Dr. Biden,” Bob Miller, president and publisher of Flatiron Books, said in a statement. “The vice president’s book promises to give us all a deeper understanding of recent political history, but it will clearly also be a book about the values that have given the vice president strength in both good times and bad.”

In February, former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama signed off on a $60 million book deal of their own.

The publisher did not share how much the Bidens will receive for their deal.
