ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) — A fire broke out and damaged a rice mill here on Friday before firefighters could get the blaze under control.

KATC-TV reported (http://bit.ly/QJ0eoW ) that there were no hazardous materials stored where the fire broke out. The television station reported that a firefighter and a local man were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out at the Vermilion Co-op Rice Mill. Some nearby homes were evacuated.
