WATCH: Jim Jordan warns Shanghai lockdown shows what Democrats can do in US

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, said the recent COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai, China, is an example of what could happen when an authoritarian-minded government controls a country.

Viral video showed people in Shanghai screaming upon learning of the latest lockdown, which does not allow them to step outside of their homes.

“There were some things that happened in our country, though, from the Left that were wrong, as well — nothing like that, but I mean, remember when the governor of Michigan said you couldn’t leave your suburban house to go to your cabin in northern Michigan?” Jordan told Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, adding that this was despite the ability to “be out in the middle of nowhere, where you could socially distance.”

“Remember when [Gov. Gretchen Whitmer] said you could go to the hardware store but you could buy certain things but couldn’t buy garden seeds?” he added. “They wouldn’t want you out gardening outside. How ridiculous it has gotten.”

Jordan said Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House chief medical adviser, wanted more restrictive policies, leaning closer to China’s way of handling the pandemic.

“Thank goodness conservatives and Republicans pushed back so it didn’t get crazy like it has in some other places,” Jordan added.

The congressman noted that come November, if Republicans take control in Congress, there will be several investigations, including into Fauci’s role and his handling of COVID-19, those who had influence in pandemic policy decisions, and President Joe Biden’s connection to dealings indicated within emails found on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“We are going to look at all of this,” Jordan said. “We are going to look at all of those issues because the American people deserve the truth.”
