Adam Schiff insists there is ‘evidence of collusion’ against ‘deeply unpatriotic’ Trump

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., insisted Wednesday there is “direct evidence” of collusion against President Trump, even as Republicans are calling for retribution against him for making unfounded claims.

During an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Schiff said there is proof in plain sight.

“I think what you see in the public record is direct evidence. When the Russians, through an intermediary, offered dirt on the Clinton campaign as part of what’s described as the Russian government effort to help the Trump campaign, and Donald Trump’s son — who played a pivotal role in the campaign — says, ‘if it is what you say it is, I’d love it,’ and sets up a meeting to receive that,” Schiff said. “That is very direct evidence of collusion.”

Schiff said Trump’s actions during the campaign were “unpatriotic” even if they turn out to not be illegal.

“Whether it’s criminal or not,” Schiff said, referring to his repeated claims that Trump colluded with Russia. “It’s deeply unpatriotic, unethical, and corrupt.”

Watch:

Trump called for Schiff’s resignation last week for “knowingly and unlawfully lying and leaking” following the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, which according to a summary from Attorney General William Barr, found no direct evidence of collusion with the Russia government by the president.
