Gray checks up on your lunch money

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is touring classrooms Tuesday with Acting Chancellor Kaya Henderson and other education officials to “observe first-hand how the recent additional funding for local schools will impact classroom teaching and learning.”

The city’s public school system is enjoying an extra $51.2 million in funds after the city’s chief financial officer discovered an additional $105 million for fiscal 2012. Now, D.C. Public Schools are outfitted with windchimes of gold nuggets and window shades of dollar bills.

Gray and Henderson will see these sights and more (well, no) with Deputy Mayor for Education De’Shawn Wright and State Superintendent Hosanna Mahaley on their cross-district tour. The stops:

Brightwood Education Campus (Ward 4)
