Donald Trump Jr. has hired a personal attorney to represent him as he goes under the microscope in the various investigations into whether his father’s campaign colluded with the Russian government.
Reuters reported Monday that Alan Futerfas was hired to represent the eldest Trump son in connection to the Russia probes.
Trump Jr. was the center of a pair of New York Times reports this weekend showing that he met with a Kremlin-connected lawyer after being promised compromising information on Hillary Clinton and her campaign.
Trump Jr. admitted to taking the meeting and said no actual compromising information was exchanged. He said he ended the meeting with the lawyer when she began talking about the adoption of Russian children by the United States.
Paul Manafort, Trump’s then-campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and a White House adviser, were also in attendance at the meeting.
The House and Senate Intelligence Committees are both investigating Russian meddling in the election, and whether the Trump campaign worked with the Kremlin to get to the White House. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is running a similar, concurrent investigation after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey while the FBI was conducting the investigation.
