Police have detected traces of blood in the New Canaan, Conn., home of Jennifer Dulos, who has been missing for a week.
State Police Western District Crime Squad detectives found the blood as they searched the home on Saturday, law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told the Hartford Courant. The home seemed to have been cleaned and it’s uncertain if DNA tests have been conducted to determine if the blood belonged to Dulos, they said.
Dulos, 50, is the mother of five children between the ages of eight and 13: Petros, Theodore, Christiane, Constantine, and Clea-Noelle. Dulos and her estranged husband Fotis Dulos, 51, split in 2017 after she accused him of having an affair and have been embroiled in a contentious custody battle.
She was reported missing last Friday evening and was last seen driving her 2017 black Chevrolet Suburban after dropping her children off at school. She missed several appointments later that day and was reported missing early that evening.
Police found the car abandoned on Friday and said that police officers and other agencies have “worked around the clock to locate Jennifer by exploring all leads and tips.”
According to an affidavit filed in June 2017, Dulos said that she feared for her life and was worried her husband would try to harm her. She also claimed he engaged in “irrational, unsafe, bullying, threatening and controlling behavior.”
Court documents indicate that Fotis warned he would take the children to his home country of Greece and so his estranged wife would “never find us.” The couple shared custody of the children, but were trying to figure out who the kids would see during holidays and who would take them to school.
