Dan Crenshaw slams Hillary Clinton coronavirus attack on Trump and defends president’s response

Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw slammed Hillary Clinton on Tuesday for criticizing President Trump’s reaction to the coronavirus outbreak while calling for his defeat in November.

“It took 70 days for Trump to treat the coronavirus not as a distant threat or harmless flu strain well under control, but as a lethal force poised to kill tens of thousands of citizens,” the failed 2016 candidate wrote. “Replace this man in November.”

Crenshaw responded by saying that Trump saved lives by cutting off travel from China.

“Denial? From the man who restricted travel in January & saved lives, while your party celebrated his impeachment?” Crenshaw wrote. “You may be confusing him with the Washington Post, telling America to get a grip, that COVID19 wasn’t scary, & that we should be wary of an aggressive govt response.”

The pieces Crenshaw cited from January and February suggested the coronavirus wasn’t a significant threat.

“How our brains make coronavirus seem scarier than it is,” said one post on Jan. 31.

“Get a grippe, America. The flu is a much bigger threat than coronavirus, for now,” a headline from Feb. 1 read.

“Why we should be wary of an aggressive government response to coronavirus,” a third headline from Feb. 3 read.

Clinton has been a vocal critic of Trump throughout his presidency and especially during the coronavirus outbreak.

The former secretary of State mocked the president’s “America First” policy after news broke that the United States unofficially leads the world in coronavirus cases.
